CRANBERRY, Pa. -- Jaromir Jagr is still lighting it up in the top Czech league at 49 years old.
Jagr scored twice and assisted on another goal on Sunday to lead Kladno to a 3-2 win over HC Verva. It was Kladno's first win of the season.
Jagr is the majority owner of Kladno, owning 70 percent of the team.
Jagr broke a 1-1 tie with this power play goal late in the second period:
With the game tied again in the third period, Jagr scored a wraparound goal that would prove to be the game-winner.
"I've been reading lately that he can't play anymore, he's overweight," Kladno coach David Cermak said after the game. "And you see, he had (two goals, one assist) and decided the match for us."
Jagr now has three goals and one assist in four games this season. His first goal of the season came on Friday, when Jagr was playing on Kladno's fourth line:
The goal impressed management (himself) enough that Jagr was bumped up to the top line for Sunday's game, where he played alongside 38-year-old former Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec and 27-year-old Nicolas Hlava, who was born after his linemate had already won two Stanley Cups.
"It is up to him," Plekanec said after the game of the line combinations. "Where he says, he plays there. We then try to adapt to it, but we are used to each other, so it is no change for us. More for the other boys."
