Our readers did it!
On the eve of Veterans Day, which is being celebrated across the country today and in Pittsburgh this morning with a 10:30 a.m. parade Downtown, the community here at DK Pittsburgh Sports completed the annual drive to contribute 2,000 one-year subscriptions to those who've served in our Armed Forces!
To which I have two things to say:
1. Thank you!
The contributions ranged from one to several hundred. They came from all over, with one of the final few coming all the way from the Czech Republic late Wednesday. And the whole deal was ultimately closed out by a matching contribution of 529 from a solitary generous soul who asked not to be identified.
All were appreciated equally. All made it happen.
2. Thank you!
No, not the readers this time. This one's for those being applauded on this special day. The gratitude's squarely on this side. Always.
Also, for anyone new to this program, if you're wondering why I'm not mentioning active-duty military, that's because our site's covered those from the day we launched in 2014. It was a group of readers who decided the following year that they'd like to cover the veterans, as well. Which is how we got here.
What a place this has become.
