COVID-19 puts Islanders' season on hold taken at PPG Paints Arena (Penguins)

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

UBS Arena, Elmont, NY

The Islanders' season has been suspended, less than a day after the Penguins defeated them, 1-0, on Long Island.

The NHL has postponed games New York was scheduled to play against the Rangers in Manhattan Sunday and Tuesday in Philadelphia.

The league's announcement said that the decision followed an eighth Islanders player being diagnosed with COVID-19, and that it's possible the suspension of games will be extended.

It added that the move was made after consulting the medical groups of the Islanders and NHL Players Association.

The Islanders have lost eight games in a row, and were missing seven players because of coronavirus when they faced the Penguins Friday night at UBS Arena.
