The AHL postponed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's games on Friday and Saturday due to COVID protocols affecting the team, the league announced on Friday.
Wilkes-Barre's game on Sunday was postponed earlier in the week due to COVID protocols affecting the Hershey Bears.
No makeup dates have been set for any of the three games yet.
"The Penguins organization will be following enhanced protocols at the direction of team medical staff and the AHL," the AHL said in a statement.
The AHL doesn't announce which players enter COVID protocol like the NHL, but a source confirmed to me that Wilkes-Barre is dealing with multiple positive tests.
Prior to this week Wilkes-Barre was testing its players once a week, but tested players multiple times this week.
Wilkes-Barre made it through last season without a single in-season positive case, aside from one player during training camp.
Head coach J.D. Forrest told me during training camp this year that all the players and members of the staff were vaccinated, and they would still try to mitigate risk during the season as they did last year.
"Everyone has the vaccination, and it's not an invincibility cloak," he said. "You know, something can still happen. We just want to do our best to try to limit that possibility."
