BALTIMORE -- The NHL delayed its return to game play by one day, the league announced on Friday.
Teams can return to practices on Dec. 26 as previously scheduled, but all games scheduled for Dec. 27 have been postponed. That includes the Penguins' game against the Bruins in Boston.
The NHL said that the decision to postpone games originally scheduled for Dec. 27 allows the league "an adequate opportunity to analyze league-wide testing results and to assess clubs' readiness to play."
The NHL expects to provide another update on its return to play plans by the end of the day on Sunday.
The Penguins have now had three games postponed this season -- Dec. 21 against the Devils due to COVID issues affecting the Devils, and Dec. 23 vs. the Flyers and Dec. 27 vs. the Bruins due to the NHL pausing games league-wide.
The Penguins' next games on the schedule are Dec. 29 in Toronto and Dec. 31 in Ottawa.
