ALTOONA, Pa. -- After a 19-day layoff due to COVID, Duquesne was back on the basketball court Saturday afternoon as the Dukes took down UMass, 78-74.
Duquesne was able to overcome a 12-point deficit to come back and earn the team's first win against UMass since 2011. The comeback also marked the 17th time a Dukes team has comeback from a double-digit deficit.
Freshman guards Jackie Johnson III and Primo Spears accounted for 48 points with Johnson putting up 27 and Spears adding 21 of his own.
It was the first Atlantic 10 game of the season for Duquesne who moved to 1-0 in the conference with the win.
