CRANBERRY, Pa. -- The Penguins' pre-game warmups are like an intricate, rehearsed dance.
Each player has their own routine they typically follow to a T.
A lot of it is superstition-based. Sidney Crosby, for instance, always has to do his puck-handling routine at the same time, same spot over the McDonald's advertisement on the ice:

Later in practice Crosby also reties his skates at the same time, same spot, kneeling on the "G" on the ice as part of the ice as part of the "PPG Paints Arena" wording. When Crosby played his 1,000th game last season, Crosby's teammates all dropped to a knee at the same time and re-tied their skates in a great tribute:

Some of the superstitions are a little more silly. Jake Guentzel, early on in warmups, will get hit (lightly) into the corner by Bryan Rust, then do a twirl back-and-forth along the glass:

Warmups always end the same way, with trainer Chris Stewart stepping onto the ice and Evgeni Malkin sending a shot off of Stewart's foot.
One of the more recent additions to the group of warmup routines is another goofy-looking one.
About midway through warmups -- after Crosby is already done with his puck-handling routine, of course -- the McDonald's logo is used for an additional routine.
John Marino waits at the logo for Chad Ruhwedel, who lines up directly behind Marino. The two then go through this back-and-forth skating routine, and it always finishes with a low high-five:
I started noticing this becoming a regular occurrence about a week or so ago, Marino said after practice on Friday that it actually started a bit earlier than that.
"We just kind of started doing it together and just kept it a routine," he said.
It's just the latest step in a long list of superstitions in the Penguins' pregame warmups.
