ALTOONA, Pa. -- It's a tale as old as time for the 2021-2022 Robert Morris team as they once again weren't able to play a complete game and fell 71-61 to Wright State Saturday night.
The loss moved the Colonials to 7-23 overall and 5-16 in the Horizon League.
"We had about 24 minutes of good basketball and then some chinks in the armor exposed themselves," head coach Andrew Toole. "The effort and the fight was where it needed to be, but we just couldn't sustain the effort over 40 minutes. That's one of our standards is sustained effort. That isn't built during games. It happens during practice and workouts and lifts. Guys believe they can play, but it's got to be day in and day out."
Senior forward Kahliel Spear led Robert Morris with 14 points and seven rebounds while junior forwards Brandon Stone and Jaron Williams added 13 a piece.
The good news for the Colonials is that the 2021-2022 season was an improvement over their first season in the Horizon League which resulted in a 4-15 overall record and 3-12 in league play.
