Welcome, Chris Halicke! taken in Downtown (Site Stuff)

FOR DKPS

Chris Halicke at Globe Life Field, Arlington, Texas.

Please join me and everyone at DK Pittsburgh Sports in welcoming Chris Halicke to our full-time staff!

Chris will cover the Steelers and Pirates, with an emphasis on the former and a healthy enough helping of the latter. And he'll begin doing both June 1.

Originally from the Pittsburgh area, Chris lived the past 22 years in the Dallas area, where he'd been covering the Rangers and Major League Baseball for Sports Illustrated's network since 2019 as a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America. He and his wife Katie, a member of the U.S. Navy since 2004, have two children, Benjamin and Leah.

I'd been in touch with Chris, a longtime reader of this site, for several years. I've felt for a long time like he'd be a fit with what we're trying to form here with this whole 2.0 edition of the company, and we finally were able to figure out a way to make that happen a couple weeks ago.

Chris will work on the Steelers beat alongside Dale Lolley, and on the Pirates beat alongside Alex Stumpf. And he'll have the opportunity, like everyone here, to be everything he can be. He'll do reporting, he'll do multimedia, he might help on other fronts, and his profile here will grow as his comfort level does.

On a more personal note: We've needed this role filled for quite a while now, so I'm singularly relieved that we'll have Chris with us soon. There's been too much of a strain on the baseball front, in particular.

I'll be in comments, as always, if there are any questions.
