On Day 2 of the MLB Draft, junior catcher Tatem Levins was selected in the eighth round (246th overall) by the Mariners, becoming Pitt's highest draft pick since 2018.

Levins transferred to Pitt prior to the 2022 season after playing three seasons at La Salle, where he won Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Year in 2019, and made the All-Atlantic 10 second team and ABCA/Rawlings second team in 2021. Levins started all 56 games for the Panthers, leading the team with a .321 batting average, .613 slugging percentage, 1.048 OPS, 68 hits, 27 extra-base hits, 16 home runs and 130 total bases.

Levins, a native of Langhorne, Pa., now becomes the 65th Pitt player selected in the MLB Draft and the second taken by the Mariners. He's also the 94th player drafted under head coach Mike Bell

Levins was a big part of a Panthers team that won 29 games and reached the semifinals of the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2018, where Pitt upset 7-seed Georgia Tech and 2-seed Louisville. The 29 wins were the most in a single season since 2018 (also 29), and tied for the most in a season since Pitt joined the ACC in 2014.
