RICHMOND, Va. -- In addition to his heroics in right field, Dave Parker added a sacrifice fly to his stat line in the 1979 All-Star Game, and was deservedly named Most Valuable Player for his efforts.

Watching video of the Cobra flashing the leather in the Kingdome outfield made me quite nostalgic for the colorful, exciting Midsummer Classics of my youth. I generally tune in for at least a few innings, and I did so again last week, but man … the current version of the game is a (quite literally, thanks to MLB’s decision to dress the players in white and charcoal gray) drab and monochromatic affair in comparison!
