NEW YORK -- If there is anything the Pirates' fans should have learned by now, it's that you can never truly know what to expect.
Case in point: The third inning Friday night at Citi Field. Mets base runner Eduardo Escobar was able to score from first on a bloop Tomás Nido single to right on a hit and run, hustling around the bases and being aided by a wide Ben Gamel throw towards the plate.

It would end up being arguably the most important run of the night, as the Mets would go on to win, 4-3. And on that pivotal play, the SNY Mets broadcast caught something peculiar: Ke'Bryan Hayes had taken his glove off and was eating sunflower seeds.

While Hayes was not involved in that play, the third baseman could have come into play had Escobar put on the brakes late and retreated to the bag. Hayes did not appear to be prepared if such a situation arose.
That angle of the video was posted online after traveling media had left the clubhouse, so there were no questions asked on the subject postgame.
