Pitt men's basketball forward John Hugley IV is expected to be sidelined after sustaining a sprained knee in practice on Friday, a source close to the program has told DK Pittsburgh Sports.
Per the source, Hugley is out for at least a few weeks with the injury.
This is the second injury sustained by a Panthers rotation player leading up to the start of the season. Will Jeffress missed parts of summer camp and has been out for the start of Pitt's preseason with a foot injury. Head coach Jeff Capel said on Monday that Jeffress could return before the team's first exhibition game against Clarion on Oct. 22. The regular season opens Nov. 7 against Tennessee Martin.
Hugley paced Pitt with team-highs in points per game (14.8) and rebounds per game (7.9) last season.
