Last week I asked Penguins players which road city was their favorite to play in.
This week, I wanted to know which city was their least favorite road city to play in.
A couple of players asked for clarification on what exactly that means -- the city itself? The building? The atmosphere? I thought it would be fun to leave that interpretation up to the players themselves and see which direction they took it.
Here's what they said.
Danton Heinen: "I think it's Detroit, I don't know what it is. Nothing against the city or anything, it's just one of those places that you never feel good, that kind of a thing. Nothing against Detroit, it's just I don't always feel good there."
Bryan Rust: "Least favorite road city would probably be Ottawa. I don't think it has anything to do with the city itself but, just I don't think I've ever played very well there. So I think I need to change that. But it's definitely not my most fun place to play."
Mark Friedman: "New Jersey, and I don't have a reason. I've never had good success there."
Kris Letang: "I don't really have one. Well, Arizona."
Kasperi Kapanen: "Probably Calgary. Yeah, that's just cold and not much there to do."
Jason Zucker: "I'm going to say Winnipeg because I don't have a great restaurant that I like to go to there."
Ryan Poehling: I'm going to go with Ottawa. I don't mind Winnipeg. It's cold and whatnot but I don't mind the city. I'll go with Ottawa.
Rickard Rakell: "Arizona. It's the opposite of Vegas."
P.O Joseph: "My first year was Binghamton, I think that was always a tough rink to go to, a tough road trip. I didn't really like the rink there."
Brock McGinn: "Winnipeg. It's an amazing arena to play in, I think just going outside of the hotel, it's pretty cold."
Marcus Pettersson: "You've got to factor in so many things. I think the last few years, Buffalo hasn't been fun just because they haven't gotten that many fans as of late. If they're going to get fans there going to the games, get a good team, I think it'd be a lot of fun to play there."
Sidney Crosby: "I don't really have a least favorite, to be honest with you. I wouldn't say there's one that sticks out, you know?"
Brian Dumoulin: "Winnipeg, just because of the cold."
Casey DeSmith: "Boston. I've had some bad experiences."
Jake Guentzel: "Ottawa. The hotel we stay in there, there's not much around it. It's just kind of stuck there."
Tristan Jarry: "Probably Arizona or Florida for obvious reasons."
