ALTOONA, Pa. -- With early signing day just nine days away, Penn State landed its 20th commitment for the class of 2023 on Monday.
Joseph Mupoyi, a defensive end from St. Thomas More High School in Oakdale, Conn., announced his commitment this afternoon.
Mupoyi (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) is rated as a 4-star prospect by On3 and a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals. At 247, he's rated as the No. 4 prospect in Connecticut and No. 45 edge rusher in the nation. At On3, he's the No. 2 prospect in Connecticut and No. 40 in the country.
Mupoyi chose Penn State over Michigan, Auburn, Ole Miss, Rutgers and the upcoming opponent in the Rose Bowl, Utah.
He made an unofficial visit to Penn State in September of 2021 and received an offer last December. He just made his official visit over the weekend.
Penn State's recruiting for the class of 2023 ranks 13th in the nation, according to 247Sports, with Mupoyi being the third edge rusher to commit in the class. The other two are 4-stars Ta'Mere Robinson and Jameial Lyons.
The Nittany Lions have one 5-star commitment in the class -- offensive tackle J'Ven Williams from Reading, who is the No. 1 prospect in the state and No. 24 in the country.
Penn State has 15 4-star commits (14 by 247 and then Mupoyi as a 4-star by On3).

PORTER ANOTHER A-A HONOR
Joey Porter Jr. was named second-team All-American by The Associated Press on Monday.
The cornerback, who has already declared for the draft and is a probable first-round pick, previously has been named second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation and Football Writers Association of America.
