CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Jason Capel is not so fond of the fans of his alma mater.

And, the feeling is mutual.

Pitt's assistant coach and brother of head coach Jeff Capel felt bitter about his return to North Carolina, as he had some choice words after the Panthers' 65-64 win over the Tar Heels about the way he was treated by their fans leading into and during the game.

The UNC Basketball Twitter account posted this below tweet as a preview of the game. The photo is of walk-on guard Creighton Lebo, who is sporting the same jersey No. 25 which Jason wore in his playing days at UNC.

It should go to note that Lebo, a walk-on and the son of Tar Heels assistant coach Jeff Lebo, has played in just one game this season, in which he scored two points in one minute of action. This tweet, apparently, did not sit well with either of the Capel brothers.

And, that only refueled the fire that was already burning within Jason.

Jason was heard shouting to fans after the game: "Y’all gonna disrespect me? All I did for this program? Y’all gonna boo me? I held this (stuff) together when Matt Doherty tore it apart. (Screw) that (stuff).”

Jason was ordered off of the floor by North Carolina senior associate athletic director for media relations Steve Kirschner, who has known Jason since his playing days at UNC from 1998-2002.

And, there was more. Check this out from Jason outside of the Pitt locker room after the game at the link HERE.

This stems from 2009, when Jeff Capel was the head coach at Oklahoma and faced the Tar Heels in an Elite Eight game in the NCAA Tournament. Jason was sporting an Oklahoma shirt in support of his brother, and the Tar Heels faithful did not take kindly to it.

β€œThe Carolina fans were pretty (crappy) toward him, excuse my language,β€œ Jeff Capel said. β€œBut pretty, pretty nasty. And it took one of the former players to say something.

"... It's a complicated relationship, and I hate it. I hate it for him. I hate it for this program, because I know that he loves this place."

Jeff Capel offered more extensive comments after the game on the situation. The embedded video below is of his full postgame press conference, but the part in which he speaks about his brother begins at the 3:02-mark and runs up to the 5:30-mark.
