ALTOONA, Pa. -- It's only February, and the next college football season is a long, long ways away. Still, it's never too early to check in on what Vegas thinks will happen with some big games in the future.
If you're a Penn State or Pitt fan who may be looking for some value on future betting lines, well, here they are.
The Nittany Lions likely will enter the 2023 campaign ranked in the top 10, and their season will come down to -- as it always does -- games against Ohio State and Michigan.
It's always difficult winning in Columbus, and one early line has Penn State as a sizable underdog against the Buckeyes on Oct. 21 at the Horseshoe in Columbus. FanDuel's early line on the game has Ohio State favored by 8 points.
If that's not enough value for a Penn State fan, then you'll probably love this next one.
Penn State hosts Michigan on Nov. 11 at Beaver Stadium. Rarely is Penn State ever an underdog at home, save for Ohio State, but that is the case right now for the game against the Wolverines.
FanDuel has Michigan favored by 1.5 points for that game, so jumping on that line plus the points could be enticing for a pro-Penn State play.
Only a small number of games have point spreads at FanDuel or anywhere else.
As of now, Pitt has only one game with an early line -- the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia on Sept. 16 in Morgantown.
If you like the Panthers' chances in that one, you can get them as a 1-point underdog on FanDuel.
Pitt beat West Virginia, 38-31, in the resumption of the Backyard Brawl this past season at Acrisure Stadium.
There are no lines out yet for season win totals for most college teams in 2023. It's a good bet -- pun intended -- that Penn State's win total will be set at 9.5 games, while Pitt likely will be looking at either 8.5 or 7.5.
