This has been some kind of season for a Duquesne team that was picked to finish last in the Atlantic 10.
The Dukes won their 20th game Wednesday night, 88-79 over UMass, in the home finale at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
It marked just the second time in 42 years that Duquesne has won 20 games in a season. Coach Keith Dambrot also pulled it off three years ago (21-9).
The Dukes improved to 20-10 overall and 10-7 in the Atlantic 10 with one game remaining in the regular season. They play at Fordham on Saturday, then will head to the A10 Tournament.
Duquesne led by 16 at the half (46-30) and held on to beat UMass (14-15, 5-12). The Dukes avenged a loss in the first meeting (87-79 on the road).
Jimmy Clark III led five Duquesne players in double figures with 18 points. Dae Dae Grant had 15, David Dixon 13, Tevin Brewer 11 and Quincy McGriff 10.
