Penn State wins monster game in OT on late 3 to keep NCAA hopes alive taken in Altoona, Pa. (Penn State)

Camren Wynter.

Journey will be in concert Friday night at the Bryce Jordan Center, and one of their hit songs, "Wheel in the Sky," begins with the line, "Winter is here again, oh lord."

Well, Wynter was in Evanston, Ill., late Wednesday night, and, oh lord, did he hit a big shot for Penn State.

Camren Wynter saved the Nittany Lions' season, for now at least, by drilling a gigantic 3-pointer with less than a second left in overtime for a 68-65 win over Northwestern.

Here's how it played out:

That was Jalen Pickett taking the first shot, then Evan Mahaffey getting a monster offensive rebound for Penn State. He passed to Andrew Funk, who zipped a pass to Wynter for the open 3 that won it.

A loss would have essentially ended Penn State's NCAA Tournament hopes, dropping the team to 8-11 in the Big Ten. The only hope left would have been going bonkers and winning the Big Ten Tournament.

But now, with this win, the Lions (18-12, 9-10) are still very, very much alive for the Big Dance.

Penn State closes the regular season at home Sunday against Maryland. That's a very winnable game, and if the Lions do prevail, they'll finish 10-10 in the league. If they win two conference tournament games, that very well could be enough to get an NCAA bid.

Winning at Northwestern wasn't just any win, either. The Wildcats entered ranked No. 41 in the NET, so this goes down as a high-quality victory for the Lions.
