ALTOONA, Pa. -- I really want to make fun of this lady. Because this unique video, which will live forever in meme infamy, is hilarious in a lose your damn mind kind of way.
But the question is really: Does she deserve scorn, or some level of sympathy and understanding?
Mom CRUSHED glasses after son, Spencer Lee, lost NCAA Wrestling Championships semifinals in historic upset 😳

It would've been his fourth straight title pic.twitter.com/3SdhWA2pr3
Penn State captured its remarkable 10th wrestling national championship of the Cael Sanderson era Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. It's just crazy how dominant the Nittany Lions are in the sport, and that dominance typically would be the biggest story line coming out of the national tournament.
Not this year.
Spencer Lee's mom is the one who made the biggest national news from this event.
Her glasses-crushing display after her son's absolutely stunning loss went viral and drew her widespread criticism for acting like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum.
For some background:
Lee, a Murrysville native and Franklin Regional High School product, is one of the greatest college wrestlers of all time, winning three national titles and two Hodge Trohies (the Heisman of wrestling). The Iowa grappler was trying to capture his fourth national championship at 125 pounds, and his loss Friday night was pretty much unfathomable because Lee was considered unbeatable. He was trying to become the first Iowa wrestler ever with four national titles, some kind of amazing accomplishment for that storied program.
Now that you know all that, what do you think about his mom's reaction to him losing?
When her son got pinned by Purdue's Matt Ramos, Lee's mom went nuts. But this wasn't just any loss. This wasn't just any sporting event. This wasn't just any, well, anything.
This was Spencer Lee's shot at immortality in the sport of wrestling.
He lost.
His mom went bananas. Her name is Cathy, and she once was an alternate for the U.S. Olympic judo team, so she understands elite competition herself and the commitment it takes to be a high-level athlete.
Look, I've laughed every time I've watched the video above. It's kind of human nature to laugh at somebody going berserk like that, isn't it?
Also, my first reaction was: This woman is crazy, a sore loser, a bad example ... yada, yada, yada.
I'll let you form your own opinion about what to make of her scene. Many people are ripping her.
But I'll say this:
If that were my son out there aiming for immortality in that kind of setting, after persevering through years and years of athletic trials and adversity in a sport so incredibly demanding such as wrestling, I cannot honestly say that I would not react the same way.
I'm about as intense as it gets when it comes to sports parents, and I get upset when my kid walks too many batters in Little League. Still, I doubt I would I tear off my glasses and crumble them up. I might just break down sobbing inconsolably.
Anyway, I know how much time and energy parents put into their kids' athletic endeavors, and this stuff can be so unbelievably personal and emotional the higher up you get.
I'm not sure there's a right or wrong answer here with regards to how this mother reacted. Maybe you disagree and believe she's a nut, or whatever, and maybe you think you would never do the same thing if you were in that situation.
Either way, I think it's OK to laugh at her for this wacky episode while also trying to have some compassion given the historic extenuating circumstances.
PURDUE EMBARRASSES ITSELF, BIG TEN
What a joke! Purdue losing as a 1 seed to 16th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson epitomizes how the Big Ten just cannot be taken all that seriously when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.
It's been 23 years since the league that beats itself up all season with styles that don't translate well to March has won a national title, the last being Michigan State in 2000.
Purdue won the Big Ten regular-season title and conference tournament and was a legit No. 1 seed. Or at least, it appeared to be legit, led by 7-foot-4 center All-American Zach Edey.
But coach Matt Painter is absolutely terrible in the NCAA Tournament, and now he will have to wear it forever that his team became just the second 1 seed to lose to a 16.
Just look at Painter's embarrassing tournament history. These weren't just losses, these were choke jobs -- one after another -- against teams seeded far lower.
Matt Painter teams in the NCAA Tournament:

15 appearances, 8 top four seeds
0 Final Fours, 1 Elite Eight
Losses to
11 seed VCU
12 seed Little Rock
13 seed North Texas
15 seed Saint Peter’s
16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson
Among the worst postseason coaching resumes in all of sports pic.twitter.com/jAE8ykQOlq
I've always thought of Painter as a good coach whose teams play hard, and he does a lot of good things from and Xs and Os standpoint. But goodness, that NCAA Tournament resume is inexcusable.
I don't know which was more shocking: Spencer Lee's loss in wrestling or the Purdue debacle against FDU.

MARK SELDERS / PENN STATE ATHLETICS
Penn State celebrates the national championship in Tulsa.
LIONS WIN ANOTHER NATIONAL TITLE
It is absolutely crazy how awesome the Penn State wrestling program is, and how badly the Lions dominated the field at the NCAA championships.
Final team scores:
1. Penn State: 137.5
2. Iowa: 82.5
That's just nuts.
From GoPSUSports:
Penn State won the team title with 137.5 points, fully 55.0 ahead of second-place Iowa's 82.5. That margin of victory between first and second is the largest in Penn State history (breaking the old record of 41.0 set in 2019) and the fifth-largest in NCAA history for any title winner.
Amazingly, Penn State had only two individual champs: Carter Starocci (174) and Aaron Brooks (184), both winning their third NCAA titles. Roman Bravo-Young (133) was upset in the finals, denying him his third title.
Freshman Levi Haines (157) made it all the way to the finals before losing, while Greg Kerkvliet (285) also lost in the finals.
Penn State was so dominant that it had the team title wrapped up early Saturday during the medal rounds, well before the finals were to take place. And so dominant that it won by 55 points despite having only two individual winners.
The Lions have won 10 of the past 12 contested national championships, giving Sanderson an incredible dynasty that is currently unmatched in collegiate sports.
So, of the three things I've got listed in this column, which one do you think is the craziest? Let me know in the comments.
1. Spencer Lee's mom
2. Purdue losing 1-16 game
3. Penn State's wrestling dominance
