RICHMOND, Va. -- Man, Nick Bonino really was a beast during that 2016 run. It was a nice feeling to see the Pens welcome him back into the fold at the trade deadline, even though my expectations were measured, and it was a shame to see him spend most of his second tour here on the shelf.
I did something with this week’s strip that I generally try not to do, and leaned pretty heavily on photo reference for the composition. But in this case, I couldn’t help myself… Bonino’s arms raised triumphantly, Phil Kessel looking on in admiration, the despair of the Sharks, especially poor Paul Martin… it’s like a Renaissance painting. Bonino Bonino Bonino BoNIIIIIIIIINOOOOOOO!
