RICHMOND, Va. -- As I listened to Saturday afternoon's Pirates game, dreading to discover just how the team would manage to waste Jared Jones' impressive 10-strikeout effort (thank you Jack Suwinski!), I couldn't help but be reminded of Ron Necciai, another young Bucco prospect who turned in maybe the greatest performance by a professional baseball player in the history of the game back in 1952.
