Minor-league report: Ashcraft, Berachi pitch Altoona to shutout win taken in Downtown (Pirates)

A look at Wednesday's minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (16-16) lost at Louisville, 4-3The Bats scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on an Austin Wynns RBI double off of Carmen Mlodzinski. 

Ji-Hwan Bae went 2-for-4. Henry Davis singled and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Jake Lamb had an RBI double in the fourth.

Indians starter Cam Alldred allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out five in five innings.

ALTOONA (7-22) beat Somerset, 3-0, with Pirates general manager Ben Cherington in attendance. Braxton Ashcraft and Dominic Perachi pitched a combined shutout effort.

Ashcraft spun the first five scoreless innings. He walked two, allowed two hits, and struck out five. He faced three batters over the minimum. Perachi followed with the final four innings in a scoreless fashion. He allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out five.

Tres Gonzalez had a two-run single in the fourth for Altoona. Jase Bowen and Jackson Glenn each went 2-for-4 with a double.

GREENSBORO (16-11) was postponed at Bowling Green because of rain. The teams will play a double header beginning at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

BRADENTON (11-18) beat St. Lucie, 3-2on Jeral Toledo's walk-off single. It is the Marauders' sixth win in a row.

Keiner Delgado hit a solo home run in the fifth, and Omar Alfonzo had an RBI single in the eighth. After allowing two runs on three hits (including a home run) in the first two innings, Bradenton starter Antwone Kelly allowed two hits between the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Relivers Peyton Stumbo and Magdiel Cotto combined to allow two hits, walk two, and strike out four in four innings.
