A look at Wednesday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (24-26) lost to Omaha, 8-2. Indians starter Michael Plassmeyer was roughed up for all eight runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. He allowed two home runs. Indianapolis' bullpen combined to allow two hits and walk four the rest of the way.

Mike Jarvis hit a solo homer and Henry Davis had an RBI single in the sixth inning.

ALTOONA (15-32) lost to Portland, 6-2. Bubba Chandler allowed solo home runs in the first and third innings in his return to the Curve rotation.

The homer allowed in the first inning was to Marcelo Mayer, the fourth-overall selection in the 2021 draft and the top-rated prospect in the Red Sox's system.

Chandler had not pitched since May 17 after leaving that game at Akron with a forearm injury. In all Wednesday, Chandler allowed three hits, walked one and struck out three on 75 pitches (48 strikes) across four innings. Chandler is now 1-4 with a 5.65 ERA this season.

“When you have a weirder delivery like I did, you got to be synced up," Chandler told reporters after the game. "And a guy like me struggles with that. And when I struggle with that, you struggle with command. It's like having my arm on time and what not has been a little bit of an issue this year. Going and doing what I did tonight, just a little more simpler.”
