The Penguins will face off against the usual suspects in this year's preseason schedule.
The slate of games again features home and away games against the Red Wings, Sabres and Blue Jackets as usual, in addition to the Kraft Hockeyville game against the Senators in Northern Ontario. Unlike the past couple of years, the schedule won't feature a split-squad game, where half the Penguins camp roster plays in the afternoon and the other half plays in the evening.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m.: Penguins at Sabres in Buffalo, N.Y.
Tuesday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m.: Penguins vs. Sabres at PPG Paints Arena
Saturday, Sept. 28, 7 p.m.: Penguins at Red Wings in Detroit
Sunday Sept 29: Penguins vs. Senators (Time and location still to be determined)
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m.: Penguins vs. Red Wings at PPG Paints Arena
Thursday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m.: Penguins at Blue Jackets in Columbus, Ohio
Friday, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.: Penguins vs. Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena
The location and time for the game against the Senators as part of Kraft Hockeyville will be announced at a later date. Elliot Lake, Ontario won the contest and the $250,000 prize for arena upgrades, but the local rink set to be upgraded is currently unusable due to structural issues.
Television and radio broadcast details for the games will be announced at a later date as well.
