Scottie Scheffler after winning the PGA Championship on Sunday.

It has been one year since last year’s PGA Championship and Scottie Scheffler’s infamous arrest outside of Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky. However, a year later, Scheffler emerged victorious as the 107th PGA Champion at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. this past weekend. Coming off of back-to-back tournament victories (The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, PGA Championship), Scheffler is in complete control of his dominating golf game. His recent performances continue to further etch his name as the greatest golfer of the modern era.

Scheffler finished even par on Sunday, ending 11-under, five strokes ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, and Davis Riley. This was the largest margin of victory in a PGA Championship since 2012. The moment was not too big for him. After finishing, he said, "Finishing off a major championship is always difficult. ... I didn't have my best stuff, but I kept myself in it, and I stepped up on the back nine and had a really good nine holes".

The 2024 season was an impressive one for Scheffler, racking up nine tournament wins, nine top-10 finishes, a green jacket, a back-to-back PGA Tour Player of the Year award, welcoming his first child, and even bringing home an Olympic Gold Medal, earning him $76.3 million in prize money and bonuses. The 2025 season has also been great for Scheffler as this PGA Championship win marks his 15th win on tour and third major title.

Fans on social media were quick to point out that Scheffler has now more wins since 2022, than the Carolina Panthers:

• Carolina Panthers: 14 Wins since 2022

• Scottie Scheffler: 15 Wins since 2022

Scheffler has now been crowned as World No. 1 for 149 weeks, still chasing Tiger Woods’ 683-week reign at the No. 1 spot. Scheffler dismisses Woods comparisons, but few can escape them. "Anytime you can be compared to Tiger, I think, is really special, but the guy stands alone in our game, " said Scheffler after winning The Players in 2024.

With the U.S. Open up next, it seems natural that he’ll have to face its defending champion, DeChambeau, who yet again found himself as runner-up in the PGA Championship this year. If Scheffler manages to defeat DeChambeau at the U.S. Open in Oakmont and wins the British Open, he would register a Career Grand Slam in the same year that Rory McIlroy completed his. However, this will be no easy feat for Scheffler, who has the whole world watching.
