THE SETUP
After its best win of the season against Louisville on Jan. 15, Pitt followed it with two disappointing defensive performances against Virginia and Clemson. The Panthers try to rebound against a Syracuse team that beat them 77-61 at the Carrier Dome on Jan. 11. It's the third ACC rematch for Pitt of the season, and a chance for Pitt to capitalize on a team with a losing record. The Orangemen have not recaptured the magic from last season that helped them overcome being swept by the Panthers to make it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. Pitt's offense has to find a way to exploit Syracuse's defense that ranks dead last in the ACC with 75.1 points per game allowed, or the Panthers will be swept by a second ACC team this season (Virginia).
