Golfer Phil Mickelson has had his membership canceled at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., for alleged nonconsensual physical contact and sexual advances with a female staff member in the clubhouse, who reported the incident to club management. Mickelson had been a member for nearly 30 years.
Mickelson approved a statement through representatives, saying,“Any misunderstanding has been cleared up. Phil continues to attend to a family health matter and is uncertain when he will be able to return to professional golf.”
Despite several major controversies during his career, including LIV Golf, gambling and insider trading, there had previously been no other public accusations of sexual misconduct.
My take: If the "misunderstanding" was cleared up, why was his membership revoked? And ... uh ... nobody asked about his return to professional golf.
