Andre Svechnikov's goal at 14:06 of overtime gave the Hurricanes a 3-2 win over the Canadiens at Bell Centre in Montreal, their second consecutive overtime win in the series at the same score. The Canes now lead the series 2-1.
The goal was made possible when Svechnikov intercepted a Lane Hutson pass just outside the Habs' blue line, took it deep and started a cycle. The puck found its way back to him in the slot above the circles and his wrister found its way past a screened Lukas Dobeš. (The goal may eventually be credited to Sebastian Aho, with review checking to see if the shot hit his hip atop the crease.)
The Canadiens mustered only 13 shots on goal through 74 minutes of play. Dobeš starred for Montreal, making 35 saves.
My take: It's been a story of shot suppression against the Habs all series, even in their 6-2 Game 1 win they had only 22. They had 12 in Game 2. That's 47 shots through three games (15.7 per game). A certain former Steelers head coach liked to say "two is a pattern." Welp, what we have here is a pattern.
