The Knicks won their tenth straight playoff game, beating the Cavaliers, 121-108, to take a three games to none lead in the Eastern Conference Final and stand one game away from the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
Third verse, same as the first: The Cavs play close for one half, then the Knicks gradually build a double digit lead in the third quarter and keep it (well, since the fourht quarter fo Game 1). Throw out all the individual statistics. The Knicks are dominating teams now out of sheer will and execution. The Cavs quit in this game, only down 12 under two minutes remaining, a sequence that saw them quickly push the ball forward only to take a casual three-pointer that rang off the rim and was rebounded by the Knicks. Jalen Brunson then dribbled it through the Cavs like it was a cone drill and had no one within eight feet of him in any direction, except a half-hearted trailing defender, as he went in for an uncontested layup.
The Cavs can't (or won't) defend — the Knicks had another game shooting over 50 percent from the field, not because the whole team's in the zone but because they work for open looks. Then they defend like their inside the Cavs' jerseys. Simple.
