In the 'best fiction is based in truth' category, a "Ted Lasso" actor has signed to play in the USL for the El Paso Locomotive FC.
Cristo Fernandez, who played AFC Richmond footballer Dani Rojas on the popular AppleTV+ series, was on a tryout contract before he was signed Tuesday.
Locomotive head coach Junior Gonzalez said, "Cristo is a great addition to our roster, adding another attacking threat. His passion for the game and leadership qualities for our locker room allow us to continue growing the positive culture we strive for as a club."
Fernandez, whose age is documented between 33 and 35 on. various sites, had not previously been a professional player. He was a rising star in Mexico's academy system when he suffered an. injury that forced him to give up the game. At university, he took up acting and has since accumulated 55 acting credits and 12 writers credits across movies and television, according to his IMDB profile.
He returned to soccer just this year, trying out with
