Giants receiver and returner Gunner Olszewski is expected to be lost for the season with what the Giants believe is and Achilles tear. Olszewski, 29, was injured making a cut on a route in a non-contact drill during the team's OTAs.
Olszewski is the third Giant to be lost to an Achilles injury during preseason activities, joining defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris and undrafted rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon.
This is the second full season Olszewski will miss in the last three, losing the 2024 season to groin injury.
After being cut by the Steelers in 2023, Olszewski caught on with the Giants, playing 10 games. Last season, he had 24 punt returns for 216 yards last season with New York and 26 kick returns for 682 yards.
My take: Hm. The Giants conduct OTAs at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center adjacent to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. It uses the same synthetic surface as the infamous stadium field annually rated the worst and most dangerous in the NFL.
