The Patriots have informed receiver that they will be releasing him next week. Though not yet official, Diggs posted on Instagram, "Thank you for a hell of a year. We family forever."

Diggs, 32, was a free agent when he signed a three-year contract with New England ahead of the 2025 season. He had $6 million guaranteed for 2026, if still on the roster March 13. In 2025, Diggs had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, helping the surprising Patriots to Super Bowl LX.

Diggs, however, is facing legal trouble this year, as preliminary hearings are scheduled in April for a felony strangulation charge and misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an alleged attack by Diggs on a personal chef.

My take: No surprise. Eat the dead cap, but the team needs roster certainty heading into the 2026 season, attempting to defend as AFC champs. That Patriots raved about Diggs as a teammate, but he's is going to be busy off the field and likely suspended for a portion of the season.
