The Steelers weren't the only team to decline the fifth-year option on their 2023 first-round draft pick ahead of the May 1 deadline. The following players were also declined by their current teams:
Jack Campbell, LB, Lions Myles Murphy, EDGE, Bengals Anthony Richardson, QB, Colts Mazi Smith, DT, Jets Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Saints
My take: Campbell is a surprise, coming off an All-Pro season, so perhaps a contract decision that doesn't tie the Lions to him if they can't get an extension done. The fifth-yer guarantee was $21.9 million. There's enough talent in each of the other players that they'll be sticking around the NFL, but none have came close to hitting their projected ceilings.
