Head coach Sean Payton announced Tuesday that he will not call the Broncos offense in 2026, deferring to new offensive coordinator Davis Webb. This will be the first time in Payton's 19 seasons as a head coach that he will not call the offense. 

Payton said he will still be calling plays on a limited basis, but acknowledged some shortcomings in 2025, getting calls to quarterback Bo Nix in a timely manner, and that he believes Webb is "very talented" and has "a gift" for calling plays. The team will still utilize Payton's system ad he will be deeply involved in game planning.

Despite finishing tenth in total offensive yards in 2025, the Broncos fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and receivers coach Kerry Colbert, promoting Webb from quarterbacks coach and offensive pass game coordinator.

My take: We'll see how patient Payton is if the offense gets off to a slow start, old habits 'n at. If Webb is successful, it will be his last season in Denver — he interviewed for four head-coaching positions this cycle.
