The Avalanche are mortal. Having won six stariught games to open the playoffs, the Wild finally broke their streak, getting goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Quinn Hughes 1:33 apart late in the first period, then built a 4-1 lead in the second period, en route to a 5-1 win in Game 3 at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn.
The Wild chased Avs goalie Scott Wedgewood after Ryan Hartman made is 3-0 early in the second period, and the move motivated the Avs with some improved play, leadig to Nathan MacKinnon's power-play goal to make it 3-1 at 13:11, but all momentum was lost 20 seconds later, when Brock Faber made it 4-1, when a terrible rebound by MacKenzie Blackwood bounced of Vladimir Tarasenko and into the crease for a can't-miss tap-in.
My take: An off day for the Avalanche, but the Wild showed what they can do at both ends. Will they be able to keep that momentum?
