Maxx Crosby spoke for the first time about his experience with the Ravens and what happened to have them back out of their trade for him.
Speaking on his eponymous "The Rush" podcast, Crosby said, “That situation was probably one of the most unique, crazy, wild, up-and-down rollercoasters I’ve ever been a part of."
Crosby flew to Baltimore on a Monday and had his physical, not meeting GM Eric DeCosta or head coach Jesse Minter. After his testing, he said:
“I’m so excited, fired-up, this is a new opportunity. You could just tell the energy was off. I dapped [Minter] up and he had a blank face. I’m not thinking anything of it, maybe he’s just different. I don’t know him. I go into the room, they sit me down on the couch and go, ‘I don’t know how to say this. One of our doctors have concerns with the results, with your knee. Some of them are concerned about the future. We really want you. We’re just gonna have to get more and more opinions.
"I called Dr. [Neal] ElAttrache and he said 'Don’t listen to any of that s**t. Your knee is great.'"
My take: This looks even worse for the Ravens. There wasn't a consensus among the team doctors — just one guy had an issue — and they didn't take the word of the surgeon they send their own players to for knee surgeries. Why did neither DeCosta nor Minter greet him when he arrived at the facilities? It's almost certain now they had the deal with Trey Hendrickson and bailed on Crosby.
