The Chicago Sky have traded forward Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream for their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks.
A two-time All-Star, Reese is the first player in WNBA history to average 12 or more rebounds per game for two consecutive seasons. She set a WNBA record in her 2024 rookie year, averaging 13.1 rebounds per game. Reese has averaged a double-double in points and rebounds through each of her first two seasons.
Reese released a brief statement, saying "I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization. I'm focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I've got to the Dream."
My take: Reese goes from 2025's second-worst team to last season's best team in the Eastern Conference, third overall. The Sky announced that there was no tension between the franchise and the player, but why would you trade one of the best rebounders if you're rebuilding ... unless they don't want to pay a max contract under the new CBA?
