The Canadiens' futility proved historic Sunday night, as they managed only nine shots on goal against the Lightning in Game 7 of their first-round series at Benchmark International Arena ... and won, 2-1, registering the lowest shot total for a winning team in NHL playoff history. Puck luck was the difference:
Nick Suzuki's shot to open the scoring had seeing eyes too:
On the other end of the ice, goalie Jakub Dobes made 28 saves, earning No. 1-star honors.
My take: Not much of a game to watch, but in the end the Canadiens were just good enough to throw some stuff at the net and found they were favored by the hockey gods. The Lightning will long wonder how they lost this game ... and this series.
