The Hurricanes have put the Flyers on the brink of elimination, with a 4-1 win in Game 3 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, taking a 3-0 series lead.
Jordan Staal got Carolina on the board in the first period, his first goal of these playoffs, and then had the primary assist on a backbreaker and eventual game-winner — Jalen Chatfield's shorthanded goal at 15:59 of the second period, to break a 1-1 tie:
Andrei Svechnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers scored in the first seven minutes of the first period to break the game open. Trevor Zegras scored Philly's lone goal.
My take: They're done. Not sure what the thinking was with the peculiar "strategy" of having twice as many penalty minutes as the Canes while being outshot 30-19. The Flyers are just not in the same class, and no team in the Eastern Conference might be ... though the Sabres would be a tough matchup.
