Shea Theodore scored at 4:38 of the second overtime to give the Golden Knights a 5-4 win over the Hurricanes in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, taking a two games to one lead. It wasn't flashy or skilled, but it went in off the end boards, then deflecting off Jordan Martinook below the goal line, then off the back of the left-leg pad of Brandon Bussi, then in:
Mitch Marner scored the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history, over a 6:10 stretch in the second period, to give Vegas a 4-0 lead. Carolina answered in record-setting fashion of their own in the third period to force OT (detailed two posts below).
Game 4 is Tuesday
My take: Classic double-OT goal. Usually a bounce goes the way of one team and it did here. Bussi was otherwise strong and should get the Game 4 start over the shaky Frederik Andersen.
