LIV Golf has informed the City of New Orleans that it would like to cancel its inaugural tournament event at Bayou Oaks Golf Course, scheduled for June 25-28, saying it wants to host a "smaller, exposition-style event" in the fall, according to a source for New Orleans newspaper and media outlet The Times-Picayune.
Initial reports at other outlets said the City of New Orleans wanted to cancel the event, concerned over LIV not being able to make payments to the city. However, it is LIV Golf that has announced it is postponing the event, raising more questions about its financial health after reports on April 15 reports that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund will pull its funding after the current season — the tour's sole investor outside sponsors.
That mid-April report also said vendors and some players had not been paid for two events.
