Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers scored at 3:29 of overtime to defeat the Canadiens, 3-2, at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, evening the Eastern Conference Final at one game apiece.
It was Ehlers' second goal of the game, having given the Canes a 2-1 lead near the end of the second period. Josh Anderson evened it for the Habs at 12:51 of the third, his second goal of the game, on just the ninth shot for Montreal — they finished with 12.
Games 3 and 4 move to Bell Centre in Montreal.
My take: Quite a shot. There was virtually no angle on Habs' goalie Jakub Dobeš, who appeared to have the net covered from well-outside his crease. This has been a dreadful series to watch through two games. Montreal now has 34 total shots through six-plus periods ... and have eight goals. Saturday's game should prove they're going to need more shot volume. If they can do it, they can take this series — they have the better goalie.
