The very definition of a ground rule happened to Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez, whose monster blast in the first inning of Houston's opening-day game against the Angels hit the roof of Daikin Park and bounded into the stands down the right-field line and ruled foul:

My take: These retractable-roof parks are too in love with their roofs. At game time, it was 81 degrees. Open the darn roof. They just spent $2.5 million upgrading the system and cabling that does just that.
