Senior guard Javon Small has been taken 18th in the second round, 48th overall, in the NBA Draft by the Grizzlies.
Small, a transfer from Oklahoma State, made the most of his one season in Morgantown, averaging 18.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 32 minutes per game, leading the Mountaineers in points and assists and earning All Big-12 honors.
His draft scouting-reports indicate Small's NBA floor is as a backup point guard due to his defense, ball skills and scoring touch, but a greater opportunity might be hampered by his size (6 feet, 2 inches), limiting him to only two positions on the floor. His ceiling could be as a starting guard, if he can overcome his height disadvantage to work shot opportunities. Whatever happens, it won't be for lack of effort.
