Astros infielder Carlos Correa will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, announceing Wednesday that he will undergo surgery to repair a complete tear of an ankle ligament suffered during batting practice ahead of Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
Correa was taking normal batting practice swings when the injury occurred, "It just completely snapped on me [after a swing] and then I fell to the ground. I couldn't put weight on it. ... I knew something was wrong."
Correa, 31, was slashing .279/.369/.418 this season, with three home runs and 16 RBIs.
My take: Tough to replace a SS/3B who is a career .815 OPS guy, though I shed no tears for the Astros organization. Ever.
