Princeton has won the NCAA men's lacrosse championship, beating Notre Dame, 16-9, in Charlottesville, Va. It is their first national championship in 25 years.
Princeton was the No. 1 seed entering the tournament and proved it with a dominating performance against the No. 2 Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter and those were the last goals they'd have in the first half, with Princeton scoring 11 unanswered, eight in the second quarter.
My take: I doubt it provides any solace to the Nittany Lions, but they were knotted with Princeton, 9-9, through three quarters in their tournament quarterfinal, before losing 14-10. This one today was never in doubt.
