Nelly Korda is back, winning the LPGA major Chevron Championship by five shots, finishing 18-under par at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston Tex., regaining her status as World No. 1. The victory completed a resurrection of sorts for the 27-year-old.
Korda was dominant in 2024. She won seven tournaments, including five in a row early in the season, culminating in her second major championship with a win at The Chevron. But there were some cracks in her game late in that season, and 2025 was a winless struggle. Despite seven top-5 finishes, she finished out of the top 10 eight times and lost her world no.1 ranking to Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul.
Korda has stormed back in 2026, winning the LPGA seasons' first event, the Tournament of Champions, then finishing second in each of her next three to starts before taking The Chevron on Sunday.
My take: There's rarely anything wrong with her tee-to-green game, but Korda was a disaster on the greens last year. That's a distant memory now. Good to see her back on form and so is the LPGA, which struggles to market international players to American audiences.
