No. 1-seed Michigan has won its first national championship since 1989, outlasting No. 2 UConn, 69-63 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Wolverines guard Elliot Cadeau was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, posting 19 points in the final.
The game was hard-fought, but once Michigan took 27-25 lead with 3:06 remaining int he first half, they never trailed again. UConn made a late push to get within four points with 27 seconds remaining, but Michigan made its free throws and UConn could not find another basket.
My take: High times for the Big Ten. Indiana and Michigan have won the biggest NCAA championships played this season. The UCLA women won their NCAA basketball tournament. Penn State are wrestling champs.
