The Yankees authored one of their franchise's biggest innings in its illustrious history, scoring 13 runs in the third inning Sunday against the Athletics at Sutter Health Field in Sacramento, Calif., a 13-8 win. It fell one run shy of the franchise record for runs in an inning, set in 1920.
It took 43 minutes and three pitchers for the Athletics to record three outs, as the Yankees racked up 11 hits — no home runs, only two extra-base hits — adding two walks.
In an oddity, the Yankees had no hits and no runs in any of their other eight innings at the plate.
My take: Forty-three minutes is like a rain delay. Yankees starter Will Warren had to go to the bullpen to keep his arm warm.
